How To Tame a Parasaur ARK: 10.000h Experience Guide

To Tame A Parasaur is quite easy with the right knowledge, right below we go trough all you need to know from a player with over 10.000 hours.

The Parasaur offers more flexibility and can be used as a companion throughout Ark: Survival Evolved while offering players the opportunity to practice taming. Although taming this dinosaur is considered easy, it still requires skill, knowledge, and the right tools. Many players will end up chasing this speedy creature across the map without these.

Tame the parasaur by first catching it with a bola and knocking it out with a club. Feed it with berries to complete the taming, finish all up with a saddle. A club allows the player to tame parasaurs up to level 90, when going above this level you will be needing tranq arrows  + bow to tame.

Parasaur Taming Process

While the Parasaur may be one of the beginner dinosaurs, it’s still not an easy creature to tame. This is primarily due to its speed and tendency to run away before players get the chance to knock it out. Luckily, there are a few techniques that will allow anyone a better chance to capture and tame the Parasaur.

Firstly, the player can essentially lock the Parasaur in place using bolas. Bola is a craftable engram you learn at level 9 that allows you to lock any small and medium size dinosaur in place for 30 seconds. The real taming can begin once the creature is locked in place. To tame the locked creature, the player must attempt to knock it out. At low levels, clubs and fists can be used. For a parasaur above level 90 you should aim to have tranq arrows and a bow.

  • Club : Knockout parasaurs up to level 90. Easily breaks to craft a few
  • Bow + Tranq arrows : Easily tame any level parasaur

As the dinosaur is knocked down you there is not much more to do than wait, their torpor drains slowly but if it gets low you can feed it a few narcoberries.

Once you have tamed the creature, you will be prompted to name it. Once you have named it, equip the saddle and enjoy all the uses for it.

Here’s how to tame a Parasaur in steps:

  1. Lock The Parasaur in place
  2. Knock it out with a club
  3. Put berries in inventory until tamed
  4. Equip a saddle by accessing its inventory

What Do Parasaur Eat in ARK?

The Parasaur can be tamed with a variety of foods. Foods that the dinosaur like are listed below (from best to worst):

  • Basic Kibble
  • Crops
  • Mejoberry
  • Other Berries

Food at the top of the list can help tame dinosaurs more quickly. Feeding dinosaurs with kibbles can be beneficial, but only if they like the kind you give them. Other kinds won’t work.

The early level parasaur can be tamed with just regular mejoberry. For higher levels we recommend kibble since  It saves you quite a bit of time and resources.

Uses for a Tamed Parasaur

In order to better understand what paras can do, let’s take a look at a few of their amazing features.

Travel: The Parasaur is a useful dinosaur for beginners to tame because players can mount it. It allows players to travel to places they may have never seen before and can carry what you desire to bring along the journey. Throughout the map, it’s also relatively fast both on land and in the water, aiding both escapes and chases.

How to Hatch Parasaur Eggs in ARK

Obtain the egg

To get fertilized eggs, you must breed one female and one male. It is necessary for two creatures of the same species to be of opposite sexes in order to breed. Enable the breeding setting to begin mating.

Mating has a cooldown, so make sure the creature hasn’t mated recently. The breeding interval for Parasaur is 18 to 48 hours.

It is important to keep an egg at a steady temperature during incubation.

  • Air Conditioners x 4
  • Egg Incubator

The temperature and time at which you incubate an egg will vary. The best option here is to use an air conditioner or an egg incubator. You will be able to regulate the temperature with their help.

An ideal temperature for an egg is between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius, and the egg incubator should be heated to 26 degrees Celsius. In official 1 x settings, the Parasaur baby hatches after around 1.5 hours. Afterwards, it requires about 2.5 hours of your attention, during which you keep adding food to its inventory. To unlock the baby’s full potential, pay attention to the imprint intervals every 8 hours.

When it becomes a juvenile, it can feed from troughs on its own. It takes 1 day and 2.5 hours to fully mature
