Since long voyages filled with angry skeletons and ravenous krakens are no fun, every pirate wants to know how to get pets in Sea of Thieves.
Pets are located at the Pirate Emporium, found at any outpost or at the menu screen that greets you when you first boot up Sea of Thieves
How to Get Pets in Sea of Thieves
There is a Pets tab in the Pirate Emporium menu where you can purchase pets. You can get Ancient Coins by making a real-money purchase or by collecting rare drops from Ancient Skeletons on Islands in Adventure mode. Additionally, you can customize your ship with different outfits, weapons, and customizations in this online shop. The cost of each pet is roughly $5 if you pay cash.
How to Get Pets for Free
If you want to get a pet for free, currently the only way to do that is to beat the odds and find an ancient skeleton to kill for coins. Even then there’s no guarantee it’ll drop enough to by yourself a furry friend, our ancient coin guide goes deep into how to farm them.
What Can I Do With Pets in Sea of Thieves?
You can do a lot of fun things with your pets. From the Pet Chest, you can equip your pet. When you’re on the ship, cats or dogs usually roam around, or follow you around when you leave. Birds can be found in the bird cage near the map. For instance, you could have a bird-type pet stand on your arm. A pet is most likely to react to the sound of an instrument played by you, and a pet can also get dirty if he or she has been shot from a cannon (cleaning will restore the natural color of their coat). The player can pet them, feed them, dress them up, use their emotes, and pet them, but they provide no combat value.
